I graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy with a degree in Marine Environmental Science in 2008 and a commission in the US Coast Guard. Go Bears!.
Upon graduation I served four years on Coast Guard Cutters as a deck watch and executive officer in Charleston, SC and Valdez, AK. I was selected for the Coast Guard's Marine Science Advanced Education program in 2012 and was assigned Duty Under Instruction to the University of Maryland. Upon completion of my Masters degree in May 2014 I was assigned to the International Ice Patrol where I currently work. My primary area of interest is the impact of atmospheric circulation on annual sea ice extent in the Arctic.
