We provide climatic data and basic consultation to Maryland state businesses, agencies, students, researchers, and citizens. We maintain strong connections with many cooperative observers in the state, the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), National Weather Service Offices, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and many other sources of weather and climate information. For climate data, please submit a data request.
The Maryland State Climatologist’s Office (MDSCO) resides in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science at the University of Maryland; it was established in the 1980s. Its mission is to 1) provide climate information services including data; 2) investigate relationships between climate and human activities that impact the State; 3) develop products and services as required to educate Marylanders on current and emerging climate issues; 4) monitor current climate conditions and place events in historical perspective.
